What TYPES of volunteer work do you put on a resume?

Most of my volunteer work were one/few-day events…mostly leadership/mentor service or for a health cause (national kidney foundation, relay for life…).

Perhaps the only longest volunteer work I’ve done was one to two months for an animal shelter.
Do they need to be a certain extended period of time?
I’m in high school, this resume would be for college.
