Student summer jobs, as well as internship programs are available to provide opportunities for teen job-seekers to get a work position in their favorite field. Are you a teenager wondering how you should spend your summer? Perhaps you should consider summer camp jobs. Websites for specific programs are easy to research so you can do some looking around and apply for these jobs online. Whatever type of work you hope to find, remember that a great majority of schools and colleges provide assistance in finding teen summer jobs.

Working as a lifeguard looks like one of the easiest student summer jobs out there; all you need to do is sit on a high chair, twirl your whistle and tan, right? In reality, there is a bit more work to it than that. Becoming a lifeguard requires extensive training that includes swimming tests, written tests and CPR certification. In most places, you must be fifteen years old to receive your basic certification. Once you have that, then you need to decide whether you want to work at a pool, water park, at the beach or at a summer camp in your area.

As well, there are tons of summer jobs for teens in amusement parks. The trick is picking one that you will enjoy. Do you have the stamina to work in a costume all day? How about loading and unloading the same ride all day long? Parks do offer seasonal jobs for teens in games, admissions, clean-up, security, food service and more. Remember that the work can be repetitive and the pay is generally only a dollar or two above minimum wage.

The perks are the best part of having a theme park job. Free park admission is fantastic if you are a roller coaster fanatic. You may suddenly become more popular with your friends as well when they discover you have a stack of free tickets.

One of the greatest summer jobs for teens is working as a camp counselor. For three months you can bond with kids, get in great shape and make close ties. There are literally hundreds of summer camps in the United States. Some camps focus on athletics or riding horses, and some are special needs camps. For more adventurous teens, they should check out jobs at wilderness camps. They focus more on outdoor survival and physical challenges.

Be aware that many student summer jobs and internship programs may not offer you a large amount of pay. One of the major reasons behind getting a summer job is to get a feel for what it’s like to work in the real world, and also to earn extra cash.
