Job interview is taxing, but many of the tough interview questions are predictable and can be prepared. Here are some examples of interview questions and answers you can used to arm yourself. There is no right or wrong answer to the question, but there is always a better and more intelligent answer.
1. What interests you to apply this job?
The best way to answer this question is to elaborate on your experiences, skills and competencies and link them with the job qualifications as mentioned in the advertisement. This will demonstrate to the interviewer that you know about the job well, and you have the required qualifications to take up the job. You can make use of your experiences in the past positions to explain how you performed your job functions, and you are interested in this job because you want to continue to excel in your area of expertise.
2. How can you contribute to this company?
You should prepare the interview by visiting the employer’s web site to review the company’s philosophy, the mission statement, the products or services and the recent news. You can reply this question by citing examples on how your experience and knowledge in a specific field can bring values to the potential employer. You can also emphasize the accomplishments and contributions you have provided to your past jobs.
3. How do you gauge success in work?
Here’s how you can respond to this question. My definition of work success is about achieving goals and objectives set by the company or the colleagues who seek support from me. All action plans in supporting the goals must be measured timely to ensure their effectiveness and compliance to timeline.
4. What skills and experience do you have?
To answer this question, you will want to promote the specific skills and experiences that you have and align them to the job description for the position you interview. You will want to demonstrate to the potential employer that you have all the necessary skills and qualifications to take up the job. You will expect the employer to check your references with your previous employment. Therefore you should provide accurate information to the interviewer.
5. Why should we hire you?
The best way to respond to this question is to link you competencies, experiences and accomplishments with the job requirements, and by showing great interest in the company and for the position you interview. You will have to cite solid examples of what you have contributed and achieved in your previous employments to convince the interviewer that you are the best candidate to be considered.
